Watch: Trailer for ‘The Last Stand’ Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger

What, you thought The Expendables 2 was the only film Arnold Scwarzenegger was working on? Come on, action films are a dime a dozen and Schwarzenegger has chipped in his thirty cents. Along with The Expendables 2 and The Tomb (also starring Sylvester Stallone), Schwarzenegger will star in The Last Stand hitting theaters on January 18.

Now, yes, January is typically a dumping ground for studio garbage while Oscar contenders expand nationwide, but there is one thing to consider with this one, it is the English-language directorial debut from Jee-Woon Kim, director of I Saw the Devil and The Good, the Bad, the Weird. That, to me, makes it at least an interesting consideration.

The story centers on Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) sheriff in the border town of Sommerton Junction who finds his sleepy day-to-day grind disrupted by Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), a wanted drug kingpin who just escaped from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a band of lawless mercenaries led by Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border with a hostage in tow. Guess what, Arnold is gonna stop him. The film co-stars Rodrigo Santoro, Jaimie Alexander, Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville and Genesis Rodriguez.

Check out the trailer below and I’ve also included the just released poster for the film below that.
