Watch: Trailer for the Excellent ‘Killing them Softly’

One of the best films I saw at the Cannes Film Festival this year was Andrew Dominik‘s Killing Them Softly starring Brad Pitt. Here’s a paragraph from my review:

Adapted from George V. Higgins’s novel, this is a gangster film with guns, bloodshed, a heist and consequences, but it also serves as a metaphor for the whole of America — from the top down. A commentary that isn’t at all subtle, and not in a bad way. Ironically enough, the violent nature of this film, with its equal moments of beauty and savagery actually make for a perfect comparison.

The Weinstein Co. recently shuffled their release schedule, moving Paul Thomas Anderson‘s The Master into September and pushing Killing Them Softly to October 19 placing what is actually a very political film much closer to the November 6 Election Day.

Along with Brad Pitt, the film co-stars Richard Jenkins, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy and Ben Mendelsohn. For more on the story and my full review click here. Otherwise, check out the trailer below.
