While my interest in seeing David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis is slightly muted after its lackluster Cannes debut and the fact it is now in theaters in foreign markets and no one seems to really care, I am interested nonetheless. Today, hoping to get others interested in its upcoming August 17 domestic release, eOne Films has released the first official US trailer for the picture which stars Robert Pattinson in the lead role.
Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the story follows newly married billionaire Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he cheats on his wife, is pursued by a stalker (Paul Giamatti), gets attacked by a protester and gradually loses his entire fortune over the course of a single day.
It’s not like people hated this film out of Cannes, there just wasn’t much excitement, though the Peter Howell quote at the end of this trailer certainly does paint a different picture. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
