Cannes 2012: French Trailer for Michael Haneke’s ‘Amour’

Hopefully the Cannes Film Festival will issue a subtitled version of the following festival trailer for Michael Haneke‘s Amour, but for my French speaking audience and those of you that simply want to get a sense for the film and Darius Khondji‘s (Midnight in Paris) cinematography this trailer should suffice for the time being.

The film has already been picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for domestic distribution and stars Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant as a pair of cultivated, retired music teachers and their daughter (Isabelle Huppert), who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family. One day, Anne has an attack, after which the couple’s bond of love is severely tested. Alexandre Tharaud also stars.

I only skimmed through the trailer, but, with the synopsis in mind, things should come together.

Amour screens at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 20, after which I will have a review for you as soon as I can. It is definitely one of my most anticipated titles at the festival.
