Watch the First Trailer for Steve McQueen’s ‘Shame’

The first trailer for Steve McQueen‘s Shame, starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan has debuted courtesy of The Guardian. Oddly enough the folks in Blighty won’t get to see this one until January while it will be hitting theaters here in the States on December 2, yet, they are on top of the getting a trailer out there first so here you have it.

The film is excellent, as I detailed in my review from Toronto, as it tells the story of Brandon (Fassbender), a thirty-something man with an uncontrollable sex addiction whose world is thrown for a complete loop upon the arrival of his troubled sister (Mulligan).

All praise aside, this is going to be a tough film for some to watch. Yet, as I wrote in my review: “Despite the disturbing nature of this film, I would definitely watch it again, but as much time as I needed between seeing the film and writing this review, I’m going to need even more before I can travel the streets of New York again with Brandon.”

I don’t believe Shame is a film you will love immediately. I walked out with questions and concerns, but over time I settled in and found answers. I hope people are willing to give it a shot, but you can pretty much guarantee this is going to be an NC-17 rated feature, which is going to make it a harder film to find and makes its potential Oscar chances all the more interesting.
