CS Video: Go Undercover with the Spy Cast!

Later this year, we’ll get the return of first Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hawke in Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation and then Daniel Craig’s James Bond in Spectre. First, however, 20th Century Fox is inviting you to meet a brand new kind of cinematic spy when the new comedy Spy, starring Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy, hits the big screen this Friday, June 5. Written and directed by Bridesmaids and The Heat’s Paul Feig (who’s also attached to the upcoming female-driven Ghostbusters reboot), Spy also includes in its ensemble cast Rose Byrne, Jason Statham and Miranda Hart, all of whom recently sat down with ComingSoon.net for a video interview. Check it out in the player below!

The comedy stars McCarthy as CIA Agent Susan Cooper, who, despite yearning for some action in the field, has been stuck working an office job, playing second fiddle to Statham and Law’s super agents. That all changes, however, when a twist of fate puts Cooper in the crosshairs, giving her a chance to prove herself and, just maybe, save the day. The Spy cast also includes Bobby Cannavale, Jude Law and many more.

In the below set of interviews, McCarthy talks about the appeal of getting to play multiple characters in the same film, while Feig and the rest of the cast break down Feig’s approach to finding the funniest possible cut, building scenes in the editing room with surgical precision. Also, find out why Statham considers filming Spy to be one of the most fun productions he’s ever worked on.

We also brought you some Spy interviews earlier this year when it premiered at SXSW. Check out a video conversation with Fieg, Statham and Cannavale, an extended interview with Feig or, if you just want to check out more of what the film has to offer, watch five different Spy clips.
