“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm steps into the 21st century with this week’s Million Dollar Arm, a Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) film that brings to the big screen the true story of innovative sports agent J.B. Bernstein, who in 2008 launched a campaign to find new baseball talent in India in the hopes of bringing a brand new audience to the classic American pastime.
ComingSoon.net sat down with Hamm, co-star Lake Bell as well as the real-life Bernstein and Rinku Singh of the Pittsburgh Pirates, one of the first winners of the competition (played by Suraj Sharma in the film). In addition to reflecting on the surreality of turning such a recent true story into a film, all four share some real-life details of the story that didn’t make it to the screen and list some of their own personal favorite sports films.
