The new release date sees the family adventure taking over the slot previously held by another upcoming DreamWorks project, the horror film The Turning, based on the novel “The Turning of the Screw” starring Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Broklynn Prince (The Florida Project), which has been removed from the schedule and will be re-dated at a later time. It will also pin the film against the upcoming Dark Phoenix, the latest installment in the X-Men franchise, which hits theaters the week before and will more than likely still be dominating the box office heading into its second weekend.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is the much-anticipated culmination of one of the most beloved animated film franchises in history. As Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.

Dean DeBlois returns as the series director alongside the all-star cast, including Jay Baruchel (Million Dollar BabyThis Is the End), America Ferrera (Ugly BettyEnd of Watch), Kit Harington (Game of ThronesPompeii), Cate Blanchett (The House with a Clock in Its WallsThor: Ragnarok), Gerard Butler (Den of ThievesGeostorm), Kristen Wiig (The Last Man on EarthGhostbusters), Craig Ferguson (Doc Martin), and F.
