Malcolm D. Lee to Direct Hip-Hop Comedy Real Talk

It was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that director Malcolm D. Lee (Night School) will be reuniting with Universal Pictures to develop an old school hip-hop comedy titled Real Talk. Radha Blank (EmpireShe’s Gotta Have It) has been tapped to write the screenplay.

The general premise developed by Lee is that Real Talk follows the story of an old-school rapper who attempts to reunite his group to reclaim their past glory as one of the most influential hip-hop acts ever.

Lee will also be producing the film under his production company, Blackmaled Productions. Melanie Clark of Blackmaled Productions will oversee the film alongside Kristin Lowe and Mika Pryce of Universal.

This project will continue the collaborative relationship Lee has with the studio, after working on films such as the sleeper hit Girls Trip and the soon to be released Night School. Night School is set to debut in theaters tomorrow, September 28.
