Sarah Lancaster to Direct & Adapt Drama Film Josie & Jack

According to Deadline, Saved By Bell: The New Class alum Sarah Lancaster has signed on to direct her first feature film with the dark drama film Josie & Jack which is based on Kelly Braffet’s 2005 novel of the same name. Lancaster co-wrote the screenplay along with Braffet.

Josie & Jack film follows the dark story of teenage siblings who have an unusual closeness with each other. They are raised in isolation in a decaying rural Pennsylvania mansion while being home-schooled by their strict and prone-rage professor father. Josie and Jack both believe that they only have each other to depend as they make their way in the world. The film is almost finish with the post-production in time for a winter festival run.

The film will star Olivia DeJonge (The Visit) as Josie, Alex Neustaedter (A-X-L) as Jack, William Ficthner (Armageddon, Hot Summer Nights, 12 Strong) as the father, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Owen Campbell and Anna Baryshnikov.

Mountain Men Films together with The Komack Company is producing the film. Charles Miller and Mountain Men Films’ Bruce R. Evans serve as the Josie & Jack’s executive producers along with The Komack Company’s Jonathon Komack Martin and Blake Goza who are producing the film.

Lancaster is best known for her TV roles in shows such as: Saved by the Bell spinoff series The New Class which aired for seven seasons; and in NBC’s Chuck co-starring with Zachary Levi (Shazam!) and Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Predator)
