“It’s actually coming along great. David Leslie Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.” Safran said

Last year, it was confirmed that The Conjuring 3 is in the process of development at Warner Bros. Pictures with The Conjuring 2 screenwriter David Leslie Johnson returning to write the third film. Conjuring Universe creator James Wan (Aquaman) and Peter Safran are producing the film.

Details for the plot are still being kept under wraps but Safran had previously stated years ago that The Conjuring 3 would break the pattern of “another supernatural possession in a house with a family in peril.” It is also not yet certain if Wan will also return to direct.

Recently, it has also been reported that the untitled Annabelle 3 will begin its filming this fall. The latest installment to the Conjuring Cinematic Universe is director Corin Hardy’s The Nun starring Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) and Demian Bichir, which is now playing in theaters.
