Three Actresses Up for Mark Romanek’s Cinderella

Following word earlier this week that Cate Blanchett is in talks to play the stepmother role in Mark Romanek’s upcoming Cinderella comes word, via Variety, about who might be fit into the iconic glass slipper. According to the trade, Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and Gabriella Wilde are all on the short list.

First announced in 2010, the live-action project arrives from Walt Disney Pictures and will feature a script by Chris Weitz and will feature a brand-new take on the classic fairytale, which has its origins in the 1st century BC.

Ronan, best known for roles in films like Atonement and Hanna, can next be seen in the Stephenie Meyer adaptation The Host. Vikander, meanwhile, appeared this year in A Royal Affair and Anna Karenina and is set to star in next year’s The Seventh Son. Wilde, finally, starred in Paul W.S. Anderson’s recent The Three Musketeers and will playing a supporting role in Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie.
