Horror Pitch from A Quiet Place Producers Picked up by Sony

Sony Developing Christmas Horror Movie from Platinum Dunes

Deadline brings word that a horror pitch from writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan for Platinum Dunes has been picked up by Sony. Platinum Dunes are the producer behind John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place, the massive horror hit that was released earlier this year in April.

Only being referred to as an untitled Christmas movie for the time being, the outlet shared that the mysterious new horror pitch will be in the vein of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream. The project was brought to Sony by Aaron Janus, executive producer for A Quiet Place.

Melton and Dunstan have written a handful of horror movies for the Saw franchise and other projects such as The Collection and The Neighbour. They are also currently working on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark with Oscar-winning co-writer and producer Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley) which is set to premiere next year.

A Quiet Place earned $331.7 million at the worldwide box office from a $17 million budget. A true cultural phenomenon that transformed the film-going experience for millions of viewers, A Quiet Place is a taut and original thriller that follows a family who must navigate their lives in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Knowing that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski) are determined to find a way to protect their children at all costs while they desperately search for a way to fight back. The horror feature is currently available on Blu-Ray and Digital.
