Mark Wahlberg Comedy Instant Family Moves Up to November

Happy Turkey Day! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne comedy Instant Family is making a huge jump from its initial February 2019 release date to November 16 of this year, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to the report, the film secured some of the highest test scores of any Paramount film in the past decade and the studio believes the family comedy has the potential to find similar box office success as The Blind Side and Wonder, which were similarly released around the same time period in 2009 and 2017, respectively.

In the film, when a couple decides to start a family, they are inspired to pursue adoption through the foster care system. They feel like wonderful, altruistic people until they suddenly have three wild kids in their home. Now they must learn to love and parent children who have no interest in being parented in this heartwarming comedy.

Octavia Spencer (The Shape of WaterHidden Figures) joined the cast in February, along with Tig Notaro (One MississippiIn a World…), Isabela Moner (Transformers: The Last NightNut Job 2: Nutty By Nature) and Iliza Shlesinger (ParadiseForever 31).

Moner will play one of the foster kids. The others will be played by newcomers Gustavo Quiroz and Julianna Gamiz. Instant Family will be directed by Sean Anders, who directed Wahlberg in Daddy’s Home, from a script Anders wrote with John Morris. The film will be produced by Anders, Wahlberg and Steve Levinson.

Wahlberg will next be seen in the Peter Berg action thriller Mile 22, which opens this week.
