Nick Nolte, Guy Pearce, Hailee Steinfeld and Kristen Wiig have all joined the cast of the upcoming Hateship, Friendship, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. Written and directed by Liza Johnson, the indie drama is based on Alice Munro’s 2002 collection of short stories, “Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage,” officially described as follow:
In the nine breathtaking stories that make up her celebrated tenth collection, Alice Munro achieves new heights, creating narratives that loop and swerve like memory, and conjuring up characters as thorny and contradictory as people we know ourselves.
A tough-minded housekeeper jettisons the habits of a lifetime because of a teenagers practical joke. A college student visiting her brassy, unconventional aunt stumbles on an astonishing secret and its meaning in her own life. An incorrigible philanderer responds with unexpected grace to his wifes nursing-home romance.
Mark Porier provided the adapted screenplay with Dylan Sellers and Cassian Elwes producing. Production is set to begin next week in New Orleans.
