LeBron James Comedy Movie Pitch Bought by Paramount Players

After signing a four-year $154 million contract to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James has sold an untitled comedy pitch alongside writer Steve Mallory (The Boss, Superintelligence) to Paramount Players via his SpringHill Entertainment company, Variety has confirmed.The outlet notes that James is in talks to star in the untitled film.

The NBA player last found himself on the big screen in Judd Apatow’s 2015 comedy Trainwreck where the athlete turned movie star played himself. On top of his NBA career, James has been busy producing upcoming projects such as New Line’s House Party remake, reviving the comedy franchise that began in 1990 and starred the rap duo Kid ‘N Play. That film is being written by Atlanta writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori.

Other slated projects from SpringHill include Legendary Entertainment’s Hustle and the Netflix series On Her Own Ground starring Octavia Spencer.

The untitled comedy picked up by Paramount Players will be produced by James and his partner Maverick Carter with Jamal Henderson and Spencer Beighley overseeing for SpringHill. Paramount Players’ Ali Bell and Gabby Canton are also involved with the project.
