Paul Feig Set to Direct Emma Thompson’s Last Christmas

According to Deadline, comedy maestro Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy, Ghostbusters) is set to direct Last Christmas for Universal Pictures.

While the plot is being kept under wraps, Last Christmas is being described as a holiday romance set in London. The script was co-written by Emma Thompson (Harry Potter franchise, Saving Mr. Banks, Love Actually), the four time acting Oscar nominee who won an Academy Award for her screenplay to 1995’s Sense and Sensibility. She co-wrote the script with Bryony Kimmings, the English performance artist an playwright behind A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer.

Thompson will produce Last Christmas alongside David Livingstone (Judy). She will next be seen in Late Night opposite Mindy Kaling, and is voicing a role in the currently filming The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle with Robert Downey Jr. in the lead.

Feig’s next film is a change-of-pace for him, the crime thriller A Simple Favor starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively and Linda Cardellini.He also directed the TV movie Girls Code, about the forming of an all-female tech company.
