New Ant-Man and The Wasp Photos, Details on Sequel

Marvel Studios has revealed two new photos from the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp (via EW) along with some new details on the film straight from the cast and crew of the sequel.

“Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible,” co-star Evangeline Lilly tells the outlet. “The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.”

There will be some foils in their way though including the new villain Ghost, with the MCU version of the character set to be a little different from the comic book version since it will be a woman behind the mask. Hannah John-Kamen of Ready Player One and Killjoys will take on the role.

“The Ghost character could be male, female, anything, so it just seemed more interesting to us [to cast a woman],” director Peyton Reed said. “Ghost’s primary power is the ability to ‘phase,’ which allows Ghost to move through solid matter. She has all sorts of strange versions of that phasing power — it proves quite difficult for Ant-Man and Wasp to deal with.”

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and Academy Award winner Michael Douglas, who all return to the roles they originated in the 2015 box office hit Ant-Man. Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip “T.I.” Harris and David Dastmalchian also reprise their supporting roles. The highly-anticipated follow-up has also added Academy Award nominees Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne, along with Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins and Randall Park to the ensemble cast.

Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp is directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. The sequel will open in theaters on July 6, 2018.
