Ken Jeong and Mathilde Ollivier join thriller Boss Level
Deadline has learned that Ken Jeong (Dr. Ken) and newcomer Mathilde Ollivier will be joining Mel Gibson (Daddy’s Home 2), Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and Naomi Watts (Twin Peaks) in the action thriller Boss Level. This casting news follows the recent announcements that New England Patriots tight end and two-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski and actress Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy) will also be starring in the film.
Boss Level follows a retired special forces officer, Roy Pulver (Grillo), who is trapped in a never-ending time loop on the day of his death. Wallis will play Alice, a dental hygienist who hates teeth but has a huge crush on her patient, aka Roy. Since Roy has to repeat this particular day numerous times until he can figure out who is responsible and put an end to the loop, Alice is frequently part of the repeating narrative, sometimes in bed alongside Roy as the first assassin of the day that tries to murder him, as well as in other encounters with him.
Boss Level will be produced and financed by Randall Emmett and George Furla of Emmett/Furla/Oasis, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian also serving as producers. Carnahan and Grillo’s War Party will executive produce alongside Scott Free’s Jules Daly. The film was written and will be directed by Joe Carnahan (Death Wish).
Jeong can also be seen in the upcoming Warner Bros.’ comedy, Crazy Rich Asians, as well as Sony’s Goosebumps 2. Ollivier will be appearing in the J.J. Abrams-produced horror thriller Overlord for Paramount Pictures.
