Mary Steenburgen Joins Last Vegas

Director Jon (National Treasure) Turteltaub’s comedy Last Vegas is getting ready to roll with an impressive cast of Oscar winners as Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline play four buddies reuniting in Las Vegas for one last bachelor party blow-out. CBS Films has now announced through Deadline that the first woman to join the boys club is a fifth Oscar winning actor, Mary Steenburgen.

Steenburgen is set to play Diana, a lounge singer who gets close with Michael Douglas’ soon-to-be-married character while also getting attention from De Niro, creating a love triangle between the long-time friends.

Steenburgen, who has also been know as Mrs. Ted Danson for the past 17 years, is one of the most recognizable actresses on television and in movies, having appeared in supporting roles and as part of ensemble casts for over thirty years, winning her first and only Oscar for a supporting role in 1980’s Melvin and Howard. She’s appeared in a variety of movies that included Back to the Future Part III in 1990 plus the comedies Step Brothers and The Proposal in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Last year, she was part of the ensemble cast of the Oscar-nominated The Help and she had a role in the most recent season of NBC’s Emmy-winning “30 Rock.”

Based on a screenplay by Dan Fogelman, Last Vegas is scheduled to start production in the fall.
