Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Snow White and the Huntsman) has joined the cast of Antonio Negret’s Overdrive, Variety reports. He’ll star opposite Karl Urban* (Star Trek) and Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), replacing the previously attached Ben Barnes.
Written by Wanted duo Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, Overdrive will feature Urban and Claflin as a pair of adventurous siblings who find more trouble than they are looking for in the South of France.
Alex Pettyfer, Matthew Goode and Garrett Hedlund were previously attached to the role at various points during development.
Taken director Pierre Morel is producing alongside Haas and Brandt.
UPDATE: *Last week, ComingSoon.net was told by actor Karl Urban that he’s not attached to Overdrive.
“That’s not correct,” Urban told ComingSoon.net. “That’s just a rumor.”
