16 New Annihilation Photos Tease the Trippy Sci-fi Thriller

Ahead of the film’s release in just a few weeks, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have released 16 new photos from Annihilation, the upcoming second feature film from director Alex Garland. Check them out in the gallery below!

Lena (Natalie Portman), a biologist and former soldier, joins a mission to uncover what happened to her husband inside Area X – a sinister and mysterious phenomenon that is expanding across the American coastline. Once inside, the expedition discovers a world of mutated landscape and creatures, as dangerous as it is beautiful, that threatens both their lives and their sanity.

From visionary writer and director Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later) and based on the acclaimed best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer, Annihilation stars Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Thor), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, Anomalisa), Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok, Creed, Dear White People), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin, Deepwater Horizon) and Tuva Novotny (Eat Pray Love, The Invisible).

Paramount Pictures and producer Scott Rudin (also a producer on Ex Machina) acquired the movie rights to Jeff VanderMeer’s entire 2014 trilogy. Annihilation, published in February 2014, was followed by Authority in May 2014 and Acceptance in September 2014.

Annihilation opens in theaters on February 23, 2018.
