Armie Hammer Joins Untitled New Orleans Thriller from Annapurna

Variety reports that Armie Hammer is set to bring his talents to an upcoming thriller from Annapurna Pictures. The yet-to-be-named film is being directed and written by Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow) and Hammer will portray a New Orleans bartender “whose life begins to unravel after a series of disturbing and inexplicable events begin to happen when he picks up a phone left behind at his bar.”

No other plot details or casting news has been announced, however with Annapurna fast-tracking the project, they are seemingly confident in what Anvari and Hammer will bring to it. Lucan Toh of Two & Two Pictures, Christopher Kopp of AZA Films and Annapurna Pictures are all set to produce..

Fresh off his success from the fantastically-wonderful and critically-successful drama Call Me By Your Name, Hammer has stayed busy this past year and continues his stream of success showing no signs of slowing down. The actor starred alongside Geoffrey Rush and Clémence Poésy in the Stanley Tucci-directed Final Portrait and voiced villain Jackson Storm in the Disney/Pixar animated Cars 3. His recent stint in the comedy sci-fi film Sorry to Bother You was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival. Annapurna also acquired the distribution rights to that film shortly after its premiere. He has also been attached to star with his The Man From U.N.C.L.E. co-star/Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander in Freak Shift and will portray Martin Ginsberg alongside Felicity Jones’ Ruth Bader Ginsberg in the biopic On the Basis of Sex.

The untitled Annapurna thriller is set to be released on March 29, 2019.
