Cruise’s role revealed in 9th Tarantino film, Roman Polanski character part of the cast

Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible, The Mummy) is currently in talks to co-star as a stuntman alongside Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant, The Wolf of Wall Street) in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino (The Hateful EightDjango Unchained) film about the Manson Family murders, Variety reporter Justin Kroll said in a tweet. Brad Pitt (Fury, Inglourious Basterds) was courted earlier for the same role, but has reportedly passed on the deal.

Cruise has yet to star in a Tarantino film, so it should be exciting to see the veteran Hollywood leading man finally work with one of the industry’s visionary directors.

In the same tweet, Kroll also noted that controversial director Roman Polanski will be a character in the film. Tarantino reportedly is going for a “discovery route,” and wants the character to be played by an authentic Polish thespian.

The film is described as follows: “Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, Tarantino’s upcoming movie focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.”

DiCaprio’s The Wolf of Wall Street co-star Margot Robbie is is being courted to play slain actress Sharon Tate. Al Pacino has also been offered a role in the ensemble, which was written expressly for him by Tarantino.

The as-of-yet untitled Tarantino movie is set to release on August 9, 2019, 50 years after the murder of Sharon Tate and the four other Manson Family victims.
