Following their What to Expect When You’re Expecting feature film earlier this year, Lionsgate’s Summit has plans to adapt another bestselling self-help book. Deadline reports that the studio is developing Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus with Reese Witherspoon attached to headline. Commercials director Bryan Buckley will make his big screen debut by helming the project.
“This book is the essential tool for couples who want to develop more satisfying relationships with their partners,” it says on author John Gray’s official site. “Throughout the book, he provides a practical and proven way for men and women to communicate better by acknowledging the differences between them. Based on years of counseling couples and research, he gives advice on how to counteract these differences in communication styles, emotional needs and modes of behavior to promote a greater understanding between partners.”
Released in 1992, Men Are From Mars has spawned several followup books. Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan are attached to adapt the non-fiction tome into a narrative, aiming for a January 2013 production start.
