Universal to Breathe Deeply

It was just yesterday that Publisher’s Weekly announced that Susan Spencer-Wendel’s proposed memoir, Breathe Deeply, was sold to HarperCollins for $2 million. Today, Variety brings word that a film version is in the works as well and that Universal Pictures has nabbed the rights.

Spencer-Wendel, a former court reporter for The Palm Beach Post, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2011. Her story was the subject of a feature article in the Wall Street Journal last month, which you can read by clicking here.

Naturally, development on the feature film version of Spencer-Wendel’s tale is in the very, very early stages, but check back for details as they become available.
