Following yesterday’s debut of the film’s Cannes teaser poster comes word, via The Hollywood Reporter, that Sir Anthony Hopkins is negotiating to joing the cast of Summit Entertainment’s upcoming RED 2.
Set to hit theaters on August 2, 2013, RED 2 features the return of Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren with new roles for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-Hun Lee.
The sequel is being directed by Dean Parisot with a screenplay from Erich and Jon Hoeber, who wrote the script for the original RED, based in turn on a comic book by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer.
The film brings back the team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.
Hopkins, who is currently shooting Hitchcock, would take on the role of a scientist committed to an insane asylum.
