Jessica Chastain Would Like to Join the IT Sequel

Jessica Chastain is interested in playing Bev in the IT sequel

Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark ThirtyThe Martian) has been mentioned around the Internet as a possible actress to play the adult Bev in the upcoming sequel to the wildly successful horror film IT. Chastain is interested in the role, according to an interview with ScreenRant. Chastain was being interviewed alongside Idris Elba for the film Molly’s Game and they were asked about playing the adult Mike and Bev.

Elba said he hadn’t seen it, but when Chastain was asked about her name being out there for the role, and how serious the talks were getting, she said, “Well, I love Andy [Muschietti} and Barbara [Muschietti]. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…we’ll see.” Elba added, “Get me in! I love that movie!” Chastain followed up with, “Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.”

The IT sequel will be written by Gary Dauberman and directed by Andy Muschietti, and will hit theaters on September 6, 2019. If cast, Jessica Chastain would play the role that Sophia Lillis did in the first film.

IT debuted on September 8 to the tune of $123.1 million opening weekend gross, the highest opening weekend ever for a September release, for a fall release, and for a horror movie. It clocked in just $9 million behind Deadpool for the second-highest opening for an R-rated movie. The film has now earned $326 million domestically and $352 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $677.5 million.

Directed by Andrés Muschietti, IT stars Bill Skarsgård as the story’s central villain, Pennywise the clown, as well as Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton.
