Logan Marshall Green Will Play Tennessee Williams in Lonely Hunter

Writer/director/producer Deborah Kampmeier and producer Troy Johanson of Full Moon Films announced today that Logan Marshall Green will portray Tennessee Williams in Lonely Hunter, the feature film based on the life story of Southern gothic writer Carson McCullers.

Williams was McCuller’s best friend and longtime confidant and described Carson’s major theme in her writing as “the huge importance and nearly insoluble problems of human love,” a theme he too well understood. Jena Malone was previously announced to portray McCullers.

McCullers is the author of the classic novels “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter” and “The Member of the Wedding.” Deborah Kampmeier and Sarah Schulman wrote the screenplay. Kampmeier will direct. Johanson and Blair Breard will produce. Abigail Disney of Fork Films will executive produce. A shoot is scheduled for 2012. Avy Kaufman is casting and additional casting is under way.

Logan Marshall Green is poised to break out in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, and is currently shooting with Olivia Wilde and James Franco. His previous films include Across the Universe and Brooklyn’s Finest.

Lonely Hunter is the true story of novelist and playwright Carson McCullers, a woman who overcame tremendous odds to become one of the most influential writers of her time. Plagued by crippling illness and torrid marriages, her imagination provided a sanctuary that she shared with us all. Lonely Hunter will span 35 years in McCullers’ life and feature notable figures including her best friend Tennessee Williams, her protégé Truman Capote, and her roommate Gypsy Rose Lee.

Kampmeier stated, “Logan is amazing for Tennessee Williams. People think of him as a leading man but I think he’s also a character actor in a leading man’s body. He is so talented and with his theater background and training he is perfect for the role. With such great work coming up for him we are happy he can do this.”
