Sharlto Copley Takes Open Grave

The film in development for some time, Sharlto Copley has secured the leading role in Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s (Apollo 18) Open Grave, Deadline reports. What’s more, the District 9 star has been confirmed to play the villain in Spike Lee’s Old Boy, following reports earlier this month that said he was in talks.

Open Grave centers on man who awakens in a pit full of dead bodies with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Rescued by a group of fellow amnesiacs, he must determine who among them may be the killer.

Old Boy, meanwhile, is a remake of Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy and focuses on a man named Joe (Dae-su Oh in the original) who is captured and imprisoned in a hotel room for over two decades (15 years in the original) with no understanding as to why. When he is suddenly released, he’s told that he has just four days to determine the reason for his imprisonment.

Copley is also known for appearing in The A-Team and will soon star in the upcoming sci-fi projects The Europa Report and Elysium (the latter re-teaming him with director Neill Blomkamp).
