Pierce Brosnan Joins The Coup

Pierce Brosnan has joined the cast of The Coup, Crime Scene Pictures has just confirmed. He’ll star opposite the previously-attached Owen Wilson.

John Erick Dowdle (Devil, Quarantine) is directing from a script he co-wrote with his brother Drew Dowdle. With lensing scheduled to begin in October, The Coup is a thriller centered on an American family that moves to Southeast Asia and finds themselves entangled in a violent coup where merciless rebels are attacking the city.

Steve Alexander said: “Having Pierce step into the role of a mysterious and ultimately heroic government operative is the perfect compliment to Owen’s everyman dilemma. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Crime Scene PicturesÂ’ Adam Ripp and Rob Paris are financing and have teamed up with Steve Alexander and Drew Dowdle to produce. Sierra/Affinity will be handling international sales beginning at Cannes in May.
