Variety is reporting that actress Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bloodline, Daddyâs Home) has been cast as the lead in New Line Cinemaâs The Children, the latest horror flick from producer James Wan (The Conjuring, Annabelle: Creation). The film appears to be unrelated to Wanâs burgeoning Conjuring Universe movies.
Cardellini will play a social worker investigating the mysterious disappearance of two children whose own family may also be in jeopardy. She will next be seen in the Paramount holiday comedy Daddyâs Home 2.
Michael Chaves (The Maiden) will direct The Children from a script by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. James Wan will produce through his Atomic Monster, whose Michael Clear will executive produce. Gary Dauberman is also a producer.
