Penelope Cruz Up for Ridley Scott’s The Counselor

Moving steadily along since earlier this year, Ridley Scott’s next project, The Counselor, appears to have netted another major name in Penelope Cruz, who, according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter, is likely to join her husband, Javier Bardem, along with Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt.

An original screenplay by Cormac McCarthy, known for the novels-turned-films “All the Pretty Horses,” “No Country for Old Men” and “The Road,” the film tells of a present-day Southwest lawyer who gets in over his head in the drug trade.

Cruz’s role is that of a love interest to Fassbender’s character, previously eyed by Angelina Jolie.
