Alexandra Daddario to Star in Dramatic Thriller I Am Not a Bird

Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas, Baywatch, True Detective) has signed on to star in the dramatic thriller I Am Not a Bird for director William Olsson (Reliance). Her casting was announced today by the film’s producers Lauren Mann of Wandering Trail Pictures and Blackbird’s Lawrence Inglee.

“The moment we finished reading Lost Girls and Love Hotels we knew we had to be involved in the film adaptation,” commented producers Mann and Inglee. “Catherine Hanrahan’s fiery writing tempers gritty emotion into an intoxicating tale of the underground laced with edginess. We are thrilled to have William Olsson at the helm to bring this brilliant story to life and Alexandra Daddario is a perfect fit for the role of the deeply layered Margaret.”

The film’s script is adapted from Catherine Hanrahan’s acclaimed debut novel Lost Girls and Love Hotels, which Hanrahan has adapted for the screen herself.

I Am Not a Bird centers around a young western woman, Margaret, in the midst of losing herself in the bachanal of nighttime Tokyo. Haunted by memories of her twin brother’s descent into madness, Margaret courts danger with her fellow ex-pat misfits in dive bars and love hotels. When she falls for Kazu, a handsome Japanese gangster, she has a chance at redemption but with the threat of a killer in the city, Margaret is in a race to find herself before she’s lost completely.
