Walt Disney Studios Sets Release Dates for Aladdin, Artemis Fowl, and More

Walt Disney Studios has made some adjustments to their upcoming release calendar as well as a few reveals.

First up is the previously dated Magic Camp, which was set for an April 6, 2018 release and is now unset from the calendar completely. The film stars Adam Devine, Gillian Jacobs and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Tambor. It centers on a summer camp for aspiring young magicians with Devine as Andy, a former camper whose flailing career as a magician has forced him to return to the camp as a counselor.

Next is a previously-untitled Disney Fairy Tale on August 3, 2018, which has been revealed to be the Untitled Christopher Robin Project. Directed by Marc Forster, the film will star Ewan McGregor as a grown-up version of the character from the Winnie the Pooh stories. He’s joined by Hayley Atwell in the film.

Star Wars: Episode IX, now with director J.J. Abrams behind the camera, has officially left its May 24, 2019 release date and will debut December 20, 2019. Disney didn’t leave the May release date open, however, officially slotting Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin on the Memorial Day weekend slot. The film’s cast includes Oscar nominee Will Smith as the Genie, with Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar,

Next up is another previously-announced “Untitled Disney Fairy Tale” with the long-anticipated adaptation of Artemis Fowl set to arrive on August 9, 2019. Kenneth Branagh signed on to direct the film back in 2015.

Finally, another “Untitled Disney Fairy Tale” has been revealed as being titled Nicole and the film will arrive on November 8, 2019. The film stars Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader and tells the story of Santa Claus’ daughter who must take over the family business after he retires.
