Lionsgate has picked up the distribution rights to Jason Statham’s next action-thriller Hummingbird, the directorial debut by Eastern Promises screenwriter Steven Knight, being produced by IM Global. Production is slated to begin on Monday.
No other cast has been announced for the movie but since they are filming next week, we assume other actors will be announced unless it’s like Safe where Jason Statham is the only known actor in the cast.
According to Variety‘s summary, “Statham stars as a veteran haunted by a tragic past who assumes the identity of an upper class Londoner. When his girlfriend is found dead, he can no longer hide from his past as he hunts down the perpetrators.”
In the meantime, one can see the earlier fruits of the partnership between Statham, IM Global and Lionsgate when Boaz Yakin’s action-thriller Safe opens on April 27.
