Variety is reporting that actress Emmy Rossum, star of Showtime’s hit show “Shameless,” will be joining Viola Davis and Emma Thompson in Richard LaGravenese’s Beautiful Creatures, a supernatural love story being produced by Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment.
Rossum will play Ridley, the cousin and dark witch nemesis of the main character in LaGavenese’s adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s popular novel set in the South and following the romance between a local teen boy and a mysterious new girl as they uncover secrets about their family and town. Jack O’Connell and Alice Englert are playing the two lead roles alongside Davis and Thompson.
Rossum previously appeared in three Warner Bros. films, including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River and their failed remake Poseidon, but has been a regular member of the “Shameless” cast opposite William H. Macy since its premiere.
