Al Pacino has joined the voice cast of Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me 2. Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove and Russell Brand are set return for the July 3, 2013 release.
The first film was a big hit for Universal Picturs and Illumination Entertainment. The $69 million-budgeted Despicable Me opened on July 9, 2010 and went on to earn $543.1 million worldwide.
Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin are set to direct the sequel from a script by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio.
Illumination founder Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy will produce for Illumination Entertainment. Creative Executive Kiska Higgs will oversee the project for the studio.
