The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara has replaced Blake Lively in the lead role in Steven Soderbergh’s The Side Effects, reports Deadline. She’s joining Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the film.
The Side Effects is said to be set in the world of psycho-pharmacology (the study of how drugs affect the human mind). Zeta-Jones and Law are playing doctors with Mara a woman who becomes addicted to prescription drugs and begins an affair with Law’s character. Tatum, meanwhile, plays Mara’s character’s husband, a convict who is due to soon be released from prison.
Scott Z. Burns wrote the script for the film that will be distributed by Open Road Films. Filming is expected to begin in April.
