Emmy Award-winning TV director Gail Mancuso will take the helm for Besties for DreamWorks

Emmy Award-winning TV director Gail Mancuso has been tapped to helm the upcoming DreamWorks road trip comedy Besties, according to Deadline. The film centers on a woman discovering an forgotten love letter from an old crush. She winds up going on a road trip with her best friends in the hopes of stopping the crush’s pending wedding. According to the site, the spec script was described as “Wild Hogs meets My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

Mancuso has received two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for ABC‘s Modern Family. The first was in 2013 for the episode “Arrested” and the second in 2014 for the episode “Las Vegas.” She was also nominated for one back in 2011 for the episode “Slow Down Your Neighbors.”

Among Mancuso’s other credits are more than 300 television episodes from series like RoseanneFriendsSabrina, the Teenage WitchEllenDharma & GregTwo Guys, a Girl and a Pizza PlaceRebaThe King of QueensGilmore GirlsThe Tracy Morgan ShowTwo and a Half MenJoeyRules of EngagementCougar TownScrubs30 RockSuburgatory and Are You There, Chelsea?. She has also received three DGA nominations for directorial achievement in a comedy series.

Besties, written by Cassie Daniels and Mark Bartosic, marks Mancuso’s feature film directing debut.
