New Saw Movie Retitled Jigsaw, Logo Revealed

Previously, the forthcoming new Saw movie, eighth in the horror franchise, was titled Saw: Legacy. Now, Lionsgate has revealed that the new feature will carry a new name, one based off its long-standing villain, and will be titled Jigsaw. The feature will arrive in theaters on October 27, and with just four months until release, a teaser trailer for the feature can’t be too far away.

The upcoming sequel, which fittingly comes seven years after Saw: The Final Chapter, will star Laura Vandervoort (Bitten, Smallville) and Hannah Anderson (Shoot the MessengerLizzie Borden Took an Ax). Additional cast members have yet to be confirmed, but given the title change, it’s a safe bet that none other than Tobin Bell will return as the titular villain. The feature was shot mostly in secret last fall.

The eighth Saw movie is directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers) from a script by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (Piranha 3D, Sorority Row) alongside original creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Mark Burg, Gregg Hoffman, and Oren Koules are producing, as they have on all the previous films in the franchise.

All seven previous Saw films have a combined worldwide box office gross upwards of $870 million on a combined budget of roughly $67 million.
