IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures have announced that Underworld Awakening will open in 255 IMAX theaters domestically and 90 internationally. Here is the press release followed by the full IMAX theater listing:
IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that Underworld Awakening, the highly anticipated fourth installment of the stunning vampire action franchise starring Kate Beckinsale, and the first to be released in the immersive IMAX® 3D format, will open this Friday, January 20. The film will open in about 255 IMAX® digital theatres domestically, simultaneously with the film’s wide North American release. The movie will also open in approximately 90 IMAX digital theatres internationally, of which at least 51 will open by this Friday, with remaining runs to debut over the coming weeks. Additional playdates will be added as pending bookings are confirmed.

Underworld Awakening brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D.
