Irwin Winkler to Adapt Robert Ludlum’s The Sigma Protocol

In development at Universal for some time, an adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s The Sigma Protocol is now moving forward with Irwin Winkler and Jose Ruisanchez adapting the screenplay, Deadline reports.

Known for producing films like Rocky, Goodfellas and Raging Bull, Winkler directed Life as a House, De-Lovely, and Home of the Brave, among others.

The novel, the last by Ludlum, revolves around a young investment banker who discovers a secret organization that has been manipulating the global economy. When the banker tries to expose the scheme, he’s targeted for death.

Like the successful Bourne series, Universal is hoping to spin The Sigma Protocol into a franchise.
