Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel holds an open casting call!

Warner Bros. Pictures is holding an open casting call for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel. Pottermore, the Harry Potter website, posted the news. The filmmakers are looking for young actors to play the teenage versions of Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange, Gellert Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore and more. An open casting call is reportedly out for three actors between the ages of 13 and 16 to play young Newt, Leta and a character named Sebastian. Actors between 16 and 18 are able to audition for Gellert Grindewald and Albus Dumbledore.

As fans of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling know, Albus and Gellert were friends who became enemies later in life. (We learned this in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.) Leta Lestrange was friends with Newt at Hogwarts and we saw her picture in Newt’s workshop, as the site reminds us. Jude Law will play an adult version of Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel.

Pottermore reminds us in the post that Faith Wood-Blagrove (Modesty) was cast from an open call for the first film and that Evanna Lynch was cast the same way for the Harry Potter series of films.

Here is the info if you’re thinking about auditioning:

To apply for the Fantastic Beasts open casting call, email casting.prod@wb.uc-ns.com with a recent colour photograph, (i.e., taken within the last two months), contact telephone number, your home address and date of birth. Anyone under 18 must ask a parent or guardian to send the application.

No previous acting experience is necessary, but applicants need to be eligible to work in the UK (meaning they must be a UK, Irish or EU passport holder), and be available for filming between August and November 2017.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 20 June 2017 at midnight GMT. If there is interest in pursuing an application further, the applicant will hear back within 14 days of their original submission. While every applicant will be considered, only those passing the initial consideration round will be contacted.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel will hit theaters on November 16, 2018. Tweet us @ComingSoonnet if you’re auditioning!
