Dougherty is also writing King of the Monsters, which has not yet revealed official plot details. Legendary previously announced, however, the addition of several more famous Toho kaiju, including Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

Bradley Whitford, known to many for his role on The West Wing, recently appeared in Jordan Peele’s Get Out. He’s no stranger to monsters, either, having played one of the lead technicians in Drew Goddard’s 2012 postmodern horror tale, The Cabin in the Woods.

King of the Monsters is part of the Legendary and Warner Bros. cinematic MonsterVerse, which includes, in addition to Godzilla and the recent Kong: Skull Island, the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong feature film, set for a May 22, 2020 release. Adam Wingard (The Guest, You’re Next) is set to helm the Kaiju tentpole.
