Yvonne Strahovski Joins I, Frankenstein

Set to begin production shortly in Victoria, Australia, Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein is in the process of rounding out its cast. Deadline now reports that another key role has been filled: Yvonne Strahovski will play the female lead.

The film tells the modern-day tale of Dr. Frankenstein’s creature, Adam, who nearly centuries after his “birth”, has found himself in a gothic city, caught up in a war between two immortal clans. Though based on the comic by Kevin Grevioux, leading man Aaron Eckhart recently explained to ComingSoon.net that Mary Shelley’s original novel is where he’s currently focusing his attention to build the character.

Stahovski, best known for her role on NBC’s “Chuck”, will play a scientist and will serve as a romantic interest to Eckhart’s Adam.

Recent reports also suggest that Bill Nighy will be joining the production as the film’s villain and that Socratis Otto will play Nighy’s character’s assistant.

I, Frankenstein is set to be released on February 22, 2013.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter now has word that Miranda Otto has also joined the cast. She’ll play the Queen of the gargoyles and a friend to Adam.
