Summit Entertainment Receives Deadmail

Summit Entertainment has acquired feature film rights to Laurie Frankel’s second novel, tentatively titled “Deadmail.” The book will be published by Doubleday, and was one of the hot titles at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, having sold to 14 territories.

In “Deadmail,” a love story about learning to let go, a computer genius invents a way for people to e-mail loved ones who have passed on, but when he unexpectedly loses the woman he loves, he must face his own creation to keep her close or lose her forever.

Temple Hill is attached to produce the project for Summit. Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production and Jeyun Choi, Summit’s Creative Executive, will oversee the project for the studio.

Frankel’s debut novel, “The Atlas of Love,” was published in August 2010 and received high praise from book critics nationwide.
