Following a successful debut at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month, Gareth Evans’ The Raid is likely for an American remake. The Hollywood Reporter has word that Screen Gems is interested in developing an English-language version of the Indonesian action film.
Though Evans is expected to make an American film his next project, he reportedly turned down the offer to remake The Raid himself.
Starring Iko Uwais, Doni Alamsyah, Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhian and Ray Sahetapy, the original film took place in the slums of Jakarta and featured a police raid of a criminal safe house.
