Anna Kendrick in Talks for Pitch Perfect

Anna Kendrick (“The Twilight Saga,” Up in the Air) is in talks to star in Gold Circle Films’ romantic comedy Pitch Perfect, to be distributed by Universal Pictures.

The film is based on Mickey Rapkin’s nonfiction novel of the same name. Rapkin, senior editor at GQ magazine, spent a season covering competitive collegiate a cappella. He followed the teams from Tuft University, the University of Oregon and the University of Virginia, writing about the singing, groupies, partying and rivalries.

Kendrick will play a goth-like and rebellious student, unhappy to be at a school at which her father is a professor, who discovers her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group.

Jason Moore is set to direct the film, which also stars Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids). Shooting is scheduled to start this fall in New Orleans.
