Stacy Keach has joined the cast of Universal’s The Bourne Legacy, Variety reports.
Keach, who recently appeared on the television boxing drama “Lights Out,” will appear opposite Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Oscar Isaac, Joan Allen and Albert Finney in what has been described as an “expansion” of the universe started with the 2002 film, The Bourne Identity (in turn based on the series of novels by Robert Ludlum).
Keach’s role is said to be similar to that of Allen and Finney, who both appeared in previous installments of the franchise.
Tony Gilroy will be both writing and directing this time around and will weave a story that, while it won’t feature Jason Bourne, will still be intrinsically tied to the character.
The Bourne Legacy is planned for release on August 3, 2012.
